“My freestanding sculpture and sculptural elements known as BIG NEON highlight the linear qualities of neon tubes and contrast the fragility of glass with bold design. In TRANSECT, my latest installation at Method Gallery, multiple neon elements interact in a defined area where luminous line and shape embody illusion: implying planes of light, intimating doors and passageways, and delineating form in space.”

Kelsey Fernkopf is an artist and neon tube bender living in Seattle. After earning a BFA in Sculpture from the University of Kansas and a continued arts education at Wichita State University, Kelsey learned how to create neon signs. Becoming skilled at the production of neon tubes, he quickly established himself as a Master of the craft.
Kelsey’s recent efforts have focused on teaching neon tube bending, cofounding the Western Neon School of Art of and creating BIG NEON, his large luminous tube neon abstractions. He has exhibited his work in galleries and museums both locally and nationally.
