Lila Westreich
Lila Westreich is a glass artist focusing on three dimensional sculpture and glass installation. She grew up in her father’s studio, a self-taught fused glass artist in southeastern Minnesota. After pursuing a degree in plant breeding and genetics from the University of Minnesota and a doctorate in ecology from the University of Washington, she rediscovered a love of working with glass in Seattle. She participated in workshops and classes at Western Neon and Pratt Fine Arts, gaining experience in hotshop glassblowing, neon bending, flameworking, and coldworking to understand how glass can be manipulated and sculpted to shape memories of a childhood spent outdoors. Awarded the John and Shirley Scholarship in Glass from Pratt Fine Arts in 2022, she has spent the last year working to bring her organic sculptures to life. Lila trained in networking and flameworking large-scale sculptures with Eunsuh Choi at Pilchuck School of Glass in summer of 2023. She has exhibited her work at small galleries and art collectives in Seattle, and was recently juried into the 2023 Pilchuck Annual Auction & Gala.
